11:1 And the whole earth had one language and the same speech.
那时，全地的人只有一种语言，都说同样的话语。
11:2 And as they journeyed east, they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there.
他们往东边迁移的时候，在示拿地遇见一片平原，就住在那里。
11:3 And they said to one another, Come, let us make bricks and burn them thoroughly. And they had brick for stone, and they had tar for mortar.
他们彼此商量说，来罢，我们作砖，把砖烧透。他们就拿砖当石头，又拿石漆当灰泥。
11:4 And they said, Come, let us build ourselves a city and a tower whose top is in the heavens; and let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered over the surface of the whole earth.
他们说，来罢，我们建造一座城和一座塔，塔顶通天；我们要宣扬我们的名，免得我们分散在全地上。
11:5 And Jehovah came down to see the city and the tower which the children of men had built.
耶和华降临，要看看世人所建造的城和塔。
11:6 And Jehovah said, Behold, they are one people, and they all have one language; and this is only the beginning of what they will do; and now nothing which they purpose to do will be kept from them.
11:7 Come, let Us go down and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech.
来罢，我们下去，在那里变乱他们的语言，使他们的言语彼此不通。
11:8 So Jehovah scattered them from there over the surface of all the earth, and they ceased building the city.
于是耶和华使他们从那里分散在全地上；他们就停工，不造那城了。
11:9 Therefore its name was called Babel, because there Jehovah confounded the language of all the earth, and from there Jehovah scattered them over the surface of all the earth.
因为耶和华在那里变乱全地人的语言，使众人分散在全地上，所以那城名叫巴别。
11:10 These are the generations of Shem. Shem was one hundred years old when he begot Arpachshad, two years after the flood.
闪的后代记在下面：洪水以后二年，闪一百岁生了亚法撒。
11:11 And Shem lived after he had begotten Arpachshad five hundred years, and he begot more sons and daughters.
闪生亚法撒之后，又活了五百年，并且生儿生女。
11:12 And Arpachshad lived thirty-five years and begot Shelah.
亚法撒活到三十五岁，生了沙拉。
11:13 And Arpachshad lived after he had begotten Shelah four hundred three years, and he begot more sons and daughters.
亚法撒生沙拉之后，又活了四百零三年，并且生儿生女。
11:14 And Shelah lived thirty years and begot Eber.
沙拉活到三十岁，生了希伯。
11:15 And Shelah lived after he had begotten Eber four hundred three years, and he begot more sons and daughters.
沙拉生希伯之后，又活了四百零三年，并且生儿生女。
11:16 And Eber lived thirty-four years and begot Peleg.
希伯活到三十四岁，生了法勒。
11:17 And Eber lived after he had begotten Peleg four hundred thirty years, and he begot more sons and daughters.
希伯生法勒之后，又活了四百三十年，并且生儿生女。
11:18 And Peleg lived thirty years and begot Reu.
法勒活到三十岁，生了拉吴。
11:19 And Peleg lived after he had begotten Reu two hundred nine years, and he begot more sons and daughters.
法勒生拉吴之后，又活了二百零九年，并且生儿生女。
11:20 And Reu lived thirty-two years and begot Serug.
拉吴活到三十二岁，生了西鹿。
11:21 And Reu lived after he had begotten Serug two hundred seven years, and he begot more sons and daughters.
拉吴生西鹿之后，又活了二百零七年，并且生儿生女。
11:22 And Serug lived thirty years and begot Nahor.
西鹿活到三十岁，生了拿鹤。
11:23 And Serug lived after he had begotten Nahor two hundred years, and he begot more sons and daughters.
西鹿生拿鹤之后，又活了二百年，并且生儿生女。
11:24 And Nahor lived twenty-nine years and begot Terah.
拿鹤活到二十九岁，生了他拉。
11:25 And Nahor lived after he had begotten Terah one hundred nineteen years, and he begot more sons and daughters.
拿鹤生他拉之后，又活了一百一十九年，并且生儿生女。
11:26 And Terah lived seventy years and begot Abram, Nahor, and Haran.
他拉活到七十岁，生了亚伯兰、拿鹤、哈兰。
11:27 Now these are the generations of Terah. Terah begot Abram, Nahor, and Haran. And Haran begot Lot.
他拉的后代记在下面：他拉生亚伯兰、拿鹤、哈兰；哈兰生罗得。
11:28 And Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his birth, in Ur of the Chaldeans.
哈兰死在他的出生地迦勒底的吾珥，在他父亲他拉之先。
11:29 And Abram and Nahor took wives for themselves: The name of Abram's wife was Sarai, and the name of Nahor's wife was Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah and the father of Iscah.
11:31 And Terah took Abram his son and Lot the son of Haran, his son's son, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Abram's wife; and they went out together from Ur of the Chaldeans to go to the land of Canaan, but when they came to Haran they settled there.
